Issue: Personal Freedom

What is it that big government doesn’t get about the “pursuit of happiness”. We have to be free to make mistakes. We don’t need laws designed to protect me from me, such as seat belt laws, trans fat laws, helmet laws, shower head water flow laws, etc. Did you know that there is actually a black market on certain toilets because the government wants to control how much you flush?  From a logical stand point, it’s ridiculous.

Is this a free country or not? Whatever happened to personal responsibility? Often times these laws don’t do a thing other than ruin lives and encourage an underground economy. You should know the drug war is lost when you can’t even keep crack out of a super max prison facility. Despite billions of hard earned wasted taxpayer dollars, the addiction rate is EXACTLY the same it was before these oppressive laws were put into place 100 years ago. If I had my way, I would release every non violent drug offender in the U.S.

You can’t legislate morality or control the human experience in a free country. Sometimes freedom isn’t pretty, we can’t pick and choose.  I agree with the Founders, live and let live as long as you don’t impose on someone else’s ability to do the same.
