Issue: Labor Unions
I will fearlessly go after corrupt Union leadership as well as work to defund Acorn. I know this position will make me the subject of vicious attacks because that is how they operate, which is why they need to be fearlessly exposed. It is fundamentally unfair for public sector employees to be allowed to unionize against the taxpayers. Not only should Michigan be a Right to Work state, Public sector employee benefits package should be on par with that of the private sector. According to the Mackinaw Center for Public Policy, if we were to private sector normalize these “Cadillac” benefit packages, we could pay for almost half of our K-12 public education needs or cut our property taxes in half.
While there was a time when unions may have been necessary, today they are manifest job killers and have crippled our economy, more specifically, the Michigan economy. One should not be surprised to know that right to work states are doing much better economically than labor friendly states. Again, I know that I will be attacked personally, professionally and most assuredly politically for this stance but I say bring it on. We have a Republic to save.
